Sophia Rabbat Receives 2020 Hospital Advisor of the Year Award

Sophia Rabbat from Nicklaus Children’s Hospital was awarded the Hospital Advisor of the Year award at Dance Marathon Leadership Conference 2020. The Hospital Advisor of the Year Award recognizes an advisor or team of advisors that have gone above and beyond in supporting the Dance Marathon programs that benefit their hospital or foundation.

Sophia was nominated for this award by a number of her students from Roarthon at Florida International University. Sophia went above and beyond in her role with Roarthon this past year, supporting her students in all aspects of their Dance Marathon planning journey. Sophia would make sure that the students were keeping the hospital and the cause at the forefront of their minds by sending weekly miracle stories to the entire Executive Board, and she also made sure they were well equipped to execute their positions by leading workshops and meeting with members one-on-one when they needed it. Sophia helped the students stay organized throughout the year by creating detailed tracking sheets and putting together thorough agendas for planning meetings and retreats that she hosted for the program. Sophia also helped Roarthon become integrated into the local community by connecting students with potential sponsors and caterers for their event in the area. The best way to show Sophia’s passion and commitment to Roarthon is through the words of her nominators:

“Not only did she help us with our work within the organization but she also helped us with our personal lives as well. She understood that we were students with other involvements and encouraged us to pursue our passions while keeping the balance of our responsibilities as a member of the executive board.”

“Sophia is a fun, energetic, and creative advisor always open to helping and supporting her students. I truly believe there is no other person with these admirable traits that provides students with exposure to viable career opportunities, networking, and a broader view of the world on such a large scale.”

“In a time like that, it wasn’t necessarily her job to take on more responsibility by providing her around the clock efforts to support us as a team and a program but she decided to provide that extra support because she truly believed that our team could come together to grow this program extensively. We always felt like she was at arm’s reach if we ever needed her to help guide us on making any decisions or helping us plan events. To put it more simply our program is so lucky to have such an involved hospital advisor whose experience in Dance Marathon is very fresh and well versed.”

Thank you Sophia for all that you do for Roarthon!
