Barbie was just two years old when she was first diagnosed with pediatric cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She began treatment in her home country of Venezuela, but after the cancer came back for a second time, the family traveled to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami to fight the cancer for good. Thanks to novel treatment she received at Nicklaus Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Institute, Barbie is now in remission, thriving, and dancing every day. At age 11, she enjoys rocking out on the drums, spending time with friends and family, and advocating for kids like her.
